What We Teach

The DIS International Secondary curriculum is based from the Cambridge Secondary I Curriculum (Math, Science and English), the Singapore and New South Wales curriculum framework (Visual Arts, IT, PE, Music and Humanities, composed of Geography and History) and the Philippines' Department of Education's  K-12 curriculum (Filipino and History).

The Cambridge Secondary Education Program is the world's largest provider of international education programmes and qualifications for 5-19 years old. More than 9,000 schools in over 160 countries are part of the Cambridge learning community.

Cambridge programmes and qualifications are progressive and flexible, helping schools develop successful students.

Cambridge Secondary 1 offers flexible curriculum with integrated assessment. It builds on the foundations of Cambridge Primary but is not essential to have completed Cambridge Primary before beginning Cambridge Secondary 1. Typically for 11-14 years old, Cambridge Secondary 1 develops learner's skills and understanding in Mathematics, English and Science for the first three years of secondary education and provides excellent preparation for Cambridge Secondary 2, and qualifications including Cambridge IGCSE.

Students in Secondary 1 aim to discover where their strengths lie, with a curriculum that offers them the basis for an informed choice when they opt for General Certificate for Secondary Education (GCSE) subjects  at the end of Grade 8. As students progress to Secondary 1, they further refine the core interdisciplinary skills initiated in the Primary School and have more subject specialist teachers guiding them in the fundamental subject specific skills that they will require for higher studies in related areas.
